Recovery Programs
The human desire to find heath, harmony, and happiness has archaic roots, and it is still a major pursuit in this day and age. Over the span of time, certain stressors and ailments have had common causes. In ancient China and India, diverse religious, philosophical, and cultural influences coalesced to discover the science and practice of Yoga and Acupuncture. After thousands of years, there is now an overlap of culture causing evolution of holistic healing modalities to suit the times.
Recovery
The complexities we now live with, including technology, social isolation, addictive drugs, and new lifestyle practices not found thousands of years ago pose new problems. Therefore ancient medical intervention and scientific research and modern therapies have come together to treat new conditions in a variety of ways with varied success outcomes.
The use of acupuncture as a natural pain reducer and stress reducer to aid recovery from addiction and rehabilitation was researched and applied in the 1970's. A protocol known as NADA (National Acupuncture Detoxification Association) was created to help addicts in recovery through the application of acupuncture to balance the nervous system.
Yoga has been clinically proven to reduce stress, increase oxygen intake, and increase well-being. Using a restorative yoga class along with certain points from NADA acupuncture prescriptions can therefore have increased benefits to recovery, detoxification, pain-relief, rest, and recuperation.
